The original definition of photography was "writing/painting with light".

I am more of an artist than a photographer as I create rather than take pictures.

I am a mature 81 year old artist/photographer - a pure amateur with huge youthful creativity and passion for showing women in all possible ways to celebrate them, their strength and beauty. I must confess to the utter joy I get in capturing the beauty and emotion of a woman in my light painting style - and it sometimes just lifts my soul.

I do conventional photography as well as this merging of the two disciplines, painting and photography, by using Light to create pictures that portrays the scene as I saw it, not as the camera would normally recorded it.

      Conventional photography is representational and is about seeing and capturing scenes in an instant,
      where as photographic painting evolves over time and portrays what one imagines or sees.

My painting with light is doing just that - controlling the light in each part of the scene independently of other parts of it. I use a handheld Light Brush, just as a painter uses a paintbrush, to reveal, or not, the objects in the image in the way I want to emphasis their contribution in the final picture.

I rush about with my Light Brush creating strokes from various directions, distances and speed of movement.

I do this in a dark room. It takes me around 2-3 minutes to do one 'sketch' and generally we achieve about one picture in 15-25 minutes. So this is completely different from conventional photography and more like life drawing - one pose equals one picture.

Light is everything – its quality, hardness, direction and strength defines the shapes, and can change, what we see.

You have to stay perfectly still while I 'paint' you.
